Yesterday I was contacted by Viktor from Lets Adopt. Now we all know this organisation and the amazing work they do around the globe to help rescue,care for and re home animals who have been victims of abuse,cruelty or simply abandoned on our city streets.The reason he contacted me, was to enquire why I had set up a chip in fund using his organisations name! I was as baffled as he was. As part of the fund-raising team at Romania Animal Aid,sometimes we are asked to set up an emergency donation fund for other organisations just like our charity did for the Danube Delta Horses on behalf of Gia. In regards to Lets Adopt this was not the case, so I was as confused as Viktor was.
Thankfully as Viktor knows me, our charity , and what type of person I am. Rather than go straight to his legal team to drag me through the courts which he quite rightly could have done, he checked with me first as was sure there was a misunderstanding or something similar.
I immediately checked the link he had sent me,and he was quite correct. In black and white on that page it clearly showed someone had raised nearly £6000 using his organisations name. This person however was not me, nor our charity or anyone linked to us. In fact the only link to myself or our charity was on the right hand column, where it just shows updates of most read this week. Our AFRA Newsletter was at the top, and so I realised , and understood how Viktor had mistakenly linked this page to us.
Of course the listings in the right hand column have nothing to do with the cause it is shown on, it is just advertising to points of interest for other cause members. However I was very glad that Viktor had contacted me about this. You see, this is not the first time this person, this organisation has done such a thing.
Using trusted and bona_fide organisations and charities names such as Lets Adopt to influence people to donate to that cause. This organisation had done the same to our charity, we found this out months before. Using our charities name Romania Animal Aid, to influence people to donate over £300
Now when confronted by us, there were many discrepancies in this persons excuse for wrongfully using our charities name. The information on that causes page very specifically influenced detonators to believe they were giving to our charity helping us to continue our much needed work...This was not , nor ever was the case!
The wording on the cause set up using Lets Adopt name deliberately influences people to think that their money is going towards Lets Adopts amazing work...It is not nor ever was the case!
Now setting aside what many including no doubt the legal authorities would class as deliberate deception and fraud that this person/organisation has committed. I want you to understand the impact that stealing (because that’s exactly what it is) over £6,300.00 from two charities has done.
Check out Lets adopt website, they work so very hard to raise funds (which in this current climate is not easy) to rescue,care for,feed,treat and re-home animals who have gone through the worst kind of hell any creature has had to suffer. Lets adopt gives animals the chance, normally for the first time in their little lives a chance to know love,care,people who will cuddle them, people who will open their homes to them forever. Lets adopt makes these animals dreams come true.
Romania Animal Aid,does similar work to Lets Adopt but on a smaller scale and focuses on providing this care,treatment and re-homing on animals in Romania.
If we were to say for rescue,treatment,care,food and finally transport costs for each individual animal we and Lets Adopt rescues and re homed, it will cost us for each animal approx £700. This of course is a ball park figure, if an individual animal has worse injuries than another animal we rescue of course it will cost more, and it follows if an animal is a little healthier than another, it will cost a little less.
Romania Animal Aid also jointly funds along with Romania Animal Rescue regular spay and neuter clinics, costing us approx £20 for each animal treated.
IF the money, over £6,300.00 had gone to the organisation and charity these people thought their money was going to, this is what that money would have achieved:
Lets Adopt and Romania Animal Aid would have been able between us to rescue 9 -10 Animals, they would have been rescued,treated, cared for and re-homed.
In regards to the £300+ that was raised in our charities name but did not, nor ever has been given to our charity,if we had received that money and for instance used this towards our spay and neuter clinics, right now there would be over 15 dogs in Romania spayed and neutered. Because these 15+ dogs haven’t been spayed or neutered, lets look at the devastating affects of this shall we?
Each bitch in a year has the capability of producing 4 litters
Each Litter on average contains 6 pups=24 pups
Each litter on average will have 4 females within that litter
Each female puppy by the age of 1 year, will be producing her own litters
Based on an average bitch breeding 4 times a year, those 4 female pups themselves would have produced=96 puppies....and from there the cycle continues. And because of Romania’s lack of spay and neuter programmes, from a single bitch not being spayed, or a dog not being neutered within a couple of years the puppies that have been produced by that single dog/bitch not being treated by Romania Animal Aid will run into hundreds of unwanted puppies being produced.
But remember, Romania Animal Aid was deprived of the ability to spay and neuter over 15+ dogs. So you are now looking at hundreds of puppies and dogs right now who are on the streets or in the slaughter houses of Romania, going through the most horrific abuse and torture... all because of one persons vile and disgusting deception.
On a larger scale, think about how this has increased the strain, not just on our charity and Lets adopt,but all the other charities and NGO's battling to keep stray numbers down and at the same time, treat the animals who are the very real victims of abuse,cruelty and neglect.
There is the most horrific blood bath going on in Romania right now as we all know, amongst that blood bath will be the 150 dogs, the 13 animals that Lets Adopt and Romania Animal Aid could not reach...Not because because we didn’t want to, but because we simply were not able to, because someone took from us over £6,300+. The £6,300+ that right now, would have saved thousands of lives.
Now when you see for yourselves who it was that did this to Lets Adopt and our charity,to those hundreds of animals that neither of us were able, or are able to save... trust me, you will be very surprised...
And as if this wasn’t horrific enough, this alleged private shelter that this person/organisation runs has used money previously donated supposedly towards maintenance of the dog shelters to infact fix up their own home (increasing its value), has bought themselves expensive new cars to run around town in ( Car registered in their name not the organisations) with the money that had been donated towards the specific care of rescued animals.
It is of course up to you if you wish to continue donating to the causes that person, that organistion sets up. All I ask, is to bare in mind , before you click that donate button, have a thought for the hundreds of animals, this very day that Lets Adopt and Romania Animal Aid could not rescue and save because we were denied those funds by that person, that organisation you are considering donating to.
Those same animals, who this very day are more than likely suffering abuse,cruelty,starvation,rape, burnt alive,beaten....the list sadly goes on...
All because Lets Adopt and Romania Animal Aid could not afford to reach them in time.
Considering the above, it will sicken you even more to learn the catchphrase that person, that organisation has used to attract potential donations to that causes page, the honey in which to catch the flies....The catchphrase "SPAY MEANS LESS STRAYS"

We have just recieved this from a trusted source. What you are about to read is a transcription of an interview done with someone who knows only too well what the person and organisation who did this to our charity and Lets Adopt is capable of. The video will be uploaded shortly.
In 2007, ROLDA stopped supplying food or any help to Mr. Cenac’s dogs in Galati without any notice. They did not break their contract with him or the supplier of dog food, but simply refused to pay any of the bills they were obligated to pay, and Dana Costin said Mr. Cenac is “just a crazy old man”.
Romania Animal Rescue was forced to step in and care for these 250 dogs as best we could. Thank goodness we now have a lot of support for Mr. Cenac’s dogs from our friends in Holland, who were also screwed over by Dana Costin.
I did an interview on tape with Mr. Cenac. This is what he said (translated by Claudiu Iosim of Animed Arad)
Here is the translation of what he said:
Mr Cenac to Nancy:
“I’m very glad to meet with you and sorry you found me upset. I’m upset with the fact that our relationship with Dana deteriorated. For a while, she had been paying her debts according to our agreement. She had been paying for the food for the dogs, until November (2006). Then she turned the ROLDA shelter into a pension (boarding facility) and private business for people on holiday. At this time she stopped paying the bills. Approximately $500 (still owed). She told me she doesn’t owe that money and it’s my personal debt. She told me to order the food, etc., as a donation from ROLDA, and then I ordered the food and she refused to pay the bill saying it was my problem, not hers.”
Marian: “ This is right?”
Mr. Cenac pulls out the bills with ROLDA’s name on them for Nancy to see. He pays his own money for these bills, and cannot afford to pay this. Shows a bill from February 14.
THE NEXT DAY:
NEXT DAY – we go with Mr. Cenac to pay the ROLDA bills thru RAR, and make a contract with the food provider.
I came in on this conversation with Marian and Mr. Cenac a bit late, so I missed filming some information…..but this is what I did get…….
Mr. Cenac to Nancy:
“She (Dana) told me she has to leave the dogs in my care because she couldn’t get to her shelter due to the weather.
Question-Marian: “Dana gave you 22 puppies?”
Answer-Mr. Cenac: Yes, 22 puppies.
Mr. Cenac:
“It was dark and I couldn’t see them well. I felt them and they were small. When I returned in the morning I realized how terrible the situation was. 3 of them were dead. I could smell the smell specific to parvo.
I tried to treat them for parvo with Dr. Gheorghita (Dr. Ileana). It was impossible to cure the ones that were sick. Out of 22, only 1 survived. I had 30 other puppies at my shelter as well, and they also died as well. I had 51 puppies die.
You can confirm this with Dr. Ileana – the puppies had many viruses – not just parvo. Pulmonary viruses, hepatitis. Most of them had their eyes turn blue, then went blind. We didn’t know what to treat them against. Their immune systems were gone.
I called Dana and told her the puppies are dying. Dana told me she took the puppies from Braila and it wasn’t her fault she got puppies like this. I told her this is not possible all 22 puppies are sick. 4 or 5 may be sick – but not 22. This means she must have taken the puppies from where all the dogs are sick, and where else could this be but her home (ROLDA shelter) because she works with sick animals. She works with sick animals, and I didn’t think they could have come from Braila. Being that is her (Dana) line of work, all of them were from her shelter, not Braila. Therefore all animals must be sick at ROLDA.
Then I found her leaflets in pet shops saying she has a boarding facility. Meanwhile, someone went there to take a dog for boarding at ROLDA, and that person told me that there were 20 dogs in Dana’s care at ROLDA, and I know that Dana has about 60 dogs, so I believe the puppies were from Dana’s shelter. So when Dana saw they were sick, she brought them to me, and I had 2 months of nightmares. Both me and Dr. Ileana had this nightmare and I kept going back to Dr. Ileana to ask how to treat them. I was very overwhelmed – I lost many dogs I loved. Dana is mean to have done this. I would have had the sick dogs euthanized.
This nightmare, besides all the dogs dying, the municipality contract says ALL dogs would have to be killed. I was scared someone from the city would come and kill ALL the dogs at my shelter. Dana was cruel to do this…..now 52 dogs were dead and others may have to be destroyed. I kept everything hidden from authorities.
A lady came to tell me that she brought 2 puppies to ROLDA. When she (the lady) asked about them later, Dana said one had been adopted and the other had run away. I asked the lady for a description of the dogs – a Pekingnese (sic) with crooked legs was one of them. I asked if this dog was a female, and the lady said “yes”. I told the lady the dog had died in my shelter. So this way it was confirmed to me that the puppies were brought from the ROLDA shelter.
Dana is focusing on this pension. I don’t know how successful that is because I heard she charges 19 Euro / day. That’s too much – if someone goes to Spain for 3 or 4 months to work – how much do they have to pay? So they have to pay all the money they earned for boarding?
This is all I have to say: that her interest in the city shelter has ended. She shouldn’t post on the internet that she is caring for 250 dogs. Dana hired her boyfriend to work for ROLDA. She took him out of his job at a chemical plant. Dana’s interest in sick and stray animals is zero.”
